Baby’s Breath live performance by AnnaMaria Pinaka

As part of the exhibition She Keeps Them Warm With Her Skirt, AnnaMaria Pinaka (1983, Thessaloniki) performs with her (fictional) band Baby’s Breath. The Thessaloniki-based band is composed of disorderly and punk princesses dwelling and doubting on polarized and universalized idea(l)s of girlhood. By singing – the ‘holy’,  the ‘untouched’ and the ‘wild’ – Baby’s Breath aspires to subvert lived normativisations of femininity in the Eastern Mediterranean.
