Open Call for Performers & Dancers

We are looking for 5 Black performers and dancers (X/F/M) for a new performance and film project at Rozenstraat- a rose is a rose is a rose – space for contemporary art.

Dates: 2 full days on October 1-2, 2024; 3 full days in the week of October 7-13; 2 full days in the week of November 25-30; and additionally 3 performances between December 1, 2024 and February 23, 2025.

We are looking for professionally trained performers and dancers with contemporary dance and improvisational experience. Students in their last year of study or dancers/performers with equivalent experience are also very welcomed to apply.

About the project:
Through this new film, performance and exhibition, the involved artist asks how the city of Amsterdam and surrounding bodies of water are connected to the lives of people brought to this place involuntarily and those who, in the present, remain by choice. For the performance, the artist will work with the group of dancers to develop a choreography in selected sites, filming on location (Oct 2024). A performance, developed in relation to the film, will then activate the exhibition three times between end November 2024 and February 2025.

Payment will conform to Cao Toneel en Dans standards.
