Join us for the Dutch premiere of Billy Morgan’s new performance Lures!

The performance is developed by ICA London in collaboration with ROZENSTRAAT- a rose is a rose is a rose and Bergen Kunsthal and premiered last June in London.

About the performance:

Staging textual situations in combination with gesture, dance and sound, the work develops Morgan’s interest in the fictionality of the body.

A serial drama overcast by the city, Lures explores the feminised subject as site of contradiction. Pulled through everyday scenes by a surrealist logic, the work materialises a continuous interweaving of text and gesture, an overspill internal to language.

Mami Kang – “Luce”, Billy Morgan – “Joanne”, Alban Ovanessian – “Marie”, come together for one night. Or is it several nights?

These three duplicitous beings narrate themselves and one another through sites of transition, upheaval and suspicion. Through sidelong glances and asides, they navigate the role of the raconteuse as figure of telling and ruse. It is not they who are assertive, but language itself.
