The One Minutes with the series When Art Isn’t Life

curated by The Critics

The One Minutes and ROZENSTRAAT present ‘When Art Isn’t Life’ a series of one-minute films curated by The Critics.

Starting as teenagers in 2015, The Critics created science fiction films using borrowed mobile phones and handmade wooden tripods. Theirinnovative work quickly gained international recognition, spreading virally online, they’ve been gifted equipment by JJ Abrams and ultimately attracting the attention of Nollywood and Hollywood.

The Critics have curated a series of twelve One Minute films by artists from Belgium, Iceland, Nigeria and the United States that challenge the boundaries between art and life. Their series explores the question of what art is if it isn’t life. The artists in this series answer this question and put their own spin on it.

Participating artists: The Critics, Yitao Yuan, Kári Thayer, Louis van Lamsweerde, Prime Snow, Qidubem, Victor Josiah, Moon Van den Hende, Abraham, Lieven Nollet, and Emanuele Dainotti.
